About me:

Art Therapy

“Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its primary mode of expression and communication. Within this context, art is not used as a diagnostic tool but as a medium to address emotional issues which may be confusing and distressing”. (BAAT.org)

I gained My Masters degree in Art Psychotherapy from The University of South Wales (Newport) in 2019. I am registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), a Full Member of  The British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) and I am fully insured with The Howdens Group. I abide by the strict ethical code and professional standards of practice required by the HCPC and The British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT).

I have experience working with adults in the following areas: stress, anxiety, Covid-19 related anxiety, bereavement, palliative care, chronic medical conditions, CSA and chronic pain conditions.

Please be aware that Art Therapy is a form of Psychotherapy and may evoke strong emotional responses, for more in depth information please visit www.BAAT.org which is the official website for The British Association of Art Therapists.

If you are interested in Art Therapy please email me and we can arrange a free 30 minute telephone conversation/Skype/Microsoft Teams meeting to see if Art Therapy is for you.

Reiki

I am a 3rd Degree Reiki Master trained in Usui Reiki.

Reiki is a natural energy healing technique that is a safe, holistic way of treating many acute and chronic conditions whilst bringing about spiritual, mental and emotional wellbeingA Reiki practitioner channels life energy through their hands to the recipient, this energy then activates the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Reiki may be effective with physical, emotional, psychological and behavioural problems helping to bring relief from the effects of pain and suffering, and may be beneficial as a complimentary treatment alongside conventional medical healthcare and natural remedies, expanding your treatment options.

In a face-to-face Reiki session the fully clothed recipient lies on a treatment table, the practitioner then places their hands in a series of positions on the head, torso, legs and arms sometimes hovering rather than touching. Each hand position is held for a few minutes whilst energy called “chi” is channelled through the practitioner into the recipient. Some times heat from the practitioner’s hands is felt and possibly a tingling or floating sensation, some people feel deep relaxation, Everyone is different.

In an online session I will ask you to position yourself comfortably and will work with you from a distance. Reiki works the same from a distance and you may feel the warmth and tingling sensations you would feel in a face-to-face session.

Reiki is suitable for everyone including the very young, the elderly and animals.

I am a member of the UK Reiki Federation.

Other:

I do not practice a formal religion. I have a strong affinity with nature and the environment and believe in kindness to all living things.

Why Choose Me?

If you are interested in Online Art Therapy

My Art Therapy practice draws on my intuition and I work from a Person-Centred approach to meet the individual needs of each client.  I am a calm, relaxed, non-judgemental and compassionate person and I am a good listener. The use of art materials during the session is a gentle, non-verbal way that allows the client to explore, identify and understand inner processes that maybe causing difficulties in their lives. I work with clients both short term and in the long term. I have undergone 3 years of my own personal therapy and I am very aware of my own internal processes and I have regular clinical supervision, both of these ensure that the focus of therapy is always on the client.

Reiki:

Choosing me for a Reiki session will mean you have dedicated relaxation time with gentle music while I channel the healing universal life energy through my hands to you. This can be in the form of the gentle laying on of hands or if you prefer, no touch is necessary. You may also choose Distance Healing, where Reiki is sent to you at a pre-arranged time or during an online session.

I attend regular courses to meet my required continued professional development for both Reiki and Art Therapy.

Insurance:

I am fully insured for both Art Therapy (Howden Insurance) & Reiki (Balens Insurance).

I offer a respectful and confidential service for both Reiki and Art Therapy.

I do not combine the two therapies, they are separate services.
